2023

Welcome to Sunrise Lodge on beautiful Baptiste Lake

Happy New Year! Welcome to the 2023 season - our 20th anniversary as owner/operators of Sunrise Lodge!
 NEW THIS YEAR
Policy changes from the Municipality have brought about changes to our handling of garbage and recycling. Commercial enterprises are no longer permitted to take garbage and recycling to the transfer station on Baptiste Lake North Road. However individuals can. Our guests are now responsible for disposing of their own garbage and recycling, either by taking it to the transfer station a few kilometres away on North Baptiste Lake Road, or by taking it home. The local transfer station is open both Saturday and Sunday as well as Thursday. Details can be found on the municipality website:

https://hastingshighlands.ca/services/waste-disposal-recyclable/hastings-highlands-waste-disposal-sites-locations-hours-of-operation/

We will still provide our guests with the clear plastic bags mandated by the municipality.

Although we have made every effort to keep our cabin price increases to an absolute minimum in recent years, this year a price hike was necessary due to considerable increases in our operating expenses. It is an unforfortunate necessity. Thank you for your understanding. As always we ask that guests bring their own sheets, pillow slips, and towels. If you feel more comfortable, please bring your dish cloths as well.
 NO pets please.

No smoking is permitted in any buildings, cabins or porches - smoking only outside, well away from cabins.

Sunrise Lodge offers simple cottaging at its best. Located on a large private point, 7 charming, rustic lakefront cottages are surrounded by beautiful Baptiste Lake and the breathtaking wilderness of Hastings Highlands. Everything is here for an easy, relaxing cottage break: great swimming, boating, fishing, BBQs and bonfires under the stars.

Unwind and unplug with an uncomplicated and rejuvenating cottage getaway. Simply breathe in fresh air and melt into an Adirondack chair. Just float on the water or find a secluded spot with a book to enjoy the quiet of the lake. Adventure enthusiasts can explore endless nature activities from here to Algonquin Park.

Sunrise Lodge is located on beautiful, big Baptiste Lake, part of a three lake chain which includes Elephant and Benoir Lakes that can take you on into Algonquin Park. Driving from Sunrise Lodge in one direction (south) is the nearby town of Bancroft - fully stocked with everything you'll need: grocery stores, farmers markets, excellent restaurants & pubs, LCBO & Beer Store, pharmacies, boutique shops, a playhouse and great parks to explore. Music festivals, antique car shows, the Rock Hound Gembouree, Art in the Park all happen throughout the summer. To the north is the small town of Maynooth, with its old style general store, antique and curio shops, art galleries, unique restaurants, and the big purple Arlington Hotel and pub that rocks music year round. And of course Algonquin Park is just up the road.

Sunrise Lodge has been an Ontario cottage getaway since the late 1940s. Though there have been many changes over the years, it still offers the same charming rustic beauty and the cottage quiet that it always has. You can spend your getaway on the dock, on the water, exploring the wilderness hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding. Driving the country back roads is spectacular and a great way to take in many unique small towns in the area.

Lakeside we offer a marine area with extensive docks for boat mooring and a deep water diving and swimming area. Centrally located among the cottages is a common building with a recreation room, separate showers and coin laundry facilities. Located beside the Rec Centre is a covered barbeque hut, with propane barbeques.

Sunrise Lodge is a private cottage resort. Your hosts, Greg and Hilary, are always available to answer questions or help you have a great cottage experience. We endeavor to be as eco friendly as possible, and continually strive to lighten our footprint to preserve the beauty of our natural surroundings.

Please NO pets.

Check-in for weekly stays, is after 3pm on Saturday. Check-out is the following Saturday before 10am.

The image below is the only photo I have of a painting my father did when I was a child. The original painting was removed from a cabin a few years ago. I only recently found this photo. This painting has huge sentimental value to me. My dad passed in 1986. I you have the painting or know its whereabouts, please return it. I don't care who took it or why, I would just like it back.

Thank you.
